When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, many established companies struggled to get the parts and/or components that they had built their products around. Many of the companies that were supplying components for these companies simply went out of business. At Scann3D, we regularly work with established  companies that have been in business 30+ years,  yet can no longer get the parts and components needed to ship their finished products to customers.

 

It is commonplace for overseas companies to retain ownership of CAD data when US-based

companies order injection molded parts and/or machined parts from them. This can be a major

problem for US-based companies if the overseas supplier goes out of business, as they will have

no CAD files to build their products.

This is where Scann3D comes in. Scann3D can take a manufactured part, laser scan it to a precise

dimensional standard, and supply the US-based company with the necessary CAD data to

manufacture the part on their own terms. Scann3D also owns and operates a full suite of CNC

equipment, so they can also design and build tooling, injection molding, and fixturing for any

equipment necessary.
